Hunter Braun is a guard who plays with a level of creativity and confidence that immediately stands out. A three-level scorer with a strong handle, Braun has the ability to create his own offense while also making plays for the people around him.

One of the biggest strengths in Braun’s game is his ability to read defenders. He uses his body, pace and change of direction to get an advantage rather than simply trying to blow by his matchup. Once he creates that opening, he can get downhill, finish around the rim, pull up or step out and knock down the jumper. That scoring versatility is paired with good playmaking instincts. Braun sees the floor well and understands when the defense is giving him an opportunity to attack versus when the better play is finding a teammate. He’s at his best when he can play freely, make reads and keep the defense uncomfortable.

Defensively, Braun brings plenty of energy as well. His quick hands allow him to disrupt ball handlers, get deflections and turn defensive plays into transition opportunities. He’s active around the ball and isn’t afraid to make his presence felt on that end.

When asked about the players he sees similarities with, Braun pointed to two very different but highly skilled NBA guards — Stephen Curry and Jalen Brunson. The comparison speaks to the type of player he believes he can become: a guard capable of creating offense with his handle, footwork, pace and ability to score at multiple levels.

And Braun isn’t shy about where he wants that development to take him.

His goal is to play Division I basketball in the United States, with an even bigger goal waiting beyond that — eventually becoming good enough to play in the NBA.

That ambition is part of what makes Braun an intriguing young prospect. He knows there is still work to do, but he’s thinking beyond the next game and already setting his sights on the highest levels of the sport.

Braun also believes tournament basketball brings out some of his best performances. With the GW Graham season coming up, it’s an opportunity to see him compete in the type of environment where he feels he tends to elevate his game.

The skill is there. The confidence is there. Now it’s about continuing to develop and proving it against better and better competition.

Hunter Braun is a young guard with a creative offensive game, defensive activity and goals that stretch well beyond the high school level.

Definitely someone who is, next up. 🔥🏀
